You can click on the gymnastics skill or event below to find the right videos. Not every exercise in the videos can be done at home. These videos are only meant to give you an idea of some ways to do gymnastics at home.
Because of all the videos in this post, if it doesn’t load on your phone or iPad, you might need to view it on a computer.
DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY EXERCISE FOR WHICH YOU DON’T HAVE THE PROPER EQUIPMENT. IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PARENTAL SUPERVISION AND PERMISSION.
1. Teaching Handstands to 6 Year Olds
This video, filmed at Bounce Gymnastics, has some great drills for practicing handstands. Only some of them can be done at home.
Even though the video title says 6 year olds, these exercises are good for any beginner.
The beginning of the video has drills on learning positions which are great for practicing at home. The video goes through the lunge, the lunge-T-lunge, and the straight position. Your gymnast can do these pretty much anywhere.
Be careful before having your gymnast trying any of the strength and flexibility drills at home. You don’t want your gymnast to hurt herself doing something she isn’t flexible enough to do.
The handstand against the wall drills help gymnasts practice their body shapes and get comfortable with being vertical. These are a perfect way for your gymnast to practice at home.
Do not try the handstand fall to your back drills unless you have a proper 8 inch mat. This drill can be done in the gym.
